Pipe and cable's automation

Why not add a switch controlled by redstone to each type of pipe and cable?It also makes automation easier.

Isn’t that already in the game though?

The shutter cover together with the cover-control-cover lets you do this.

I have tried the shutter cover and cover controller cover, but only shutter cover worked.
Maybe I used the cover controller cover in a wrong way, how to use it specifically? I have no idea after looking wiki.

The Cover Controller Cover is there to toggle the Shutter Cover ON/OFF. Its essentially for selecting the Side of the Block where the Redstone you use to control the Shutter comes in.
